These are the best turkey burgers that I have tasted!
It is a Martha Stewart recipe that I came across a long time ago. I was not a fan of turkey burgers until I made these. Even some I have had at restaurants do not compare. Ground turkey is very bland and needs a lot of flavoring to make it taste good. Salt and pepper just doesn't cut it like it does for beef. Sharp Gruyere cheese and spicy Dijon mustard are the main flavor boosters here. Scallions and breadcrumbs create a perfect texture. If you think turkey burgers are not your thing, give these a try. I have a feeling you might change your mind!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds ground Turkey
1/2 cup finely grated Gruyere cheese
4 scallions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup dried breadcrumbs (I have used corn meal as well with good results!)
1 garlic clove, minced
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
Hamburger buns
Toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, red onions, pickles, to name a few.
Preparation:
In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients stirring with a wooden spoon. Form mixture into 4 1-inch thick patties. Lightly oil your grill grates. Place patties on the grill over high heat and cook until nice and brown, about 5 minutes. Flip and cook 2-3 minutes on the other side. Place patties on buns and pile on your favorite toppings.
